We’ve also features on the use of stainless steel in stunning swimming pool projects plus innovative products that are providing quality fi nishing touches to pools across the UK.

Lighting solutions and pool safety are both areas that have come a long way recently with new technologies and innovations galore and both are subjects also featured this issue.

Busy. That single words seems to sum up the last couple of months for the majority of the industry, well for the people that I have spoken with anyway, and long may it continue! It seems the recovery in the UK is in full swing and with it, confi dence is returning and people and organisations appear to be spending on products from our industry. Of course, some decent weather has helped as it always does but it does appear that the country has fi nally turned a corner and it seems that air of optimism at the start of the year was well founded. Let’s all keep our fi ngers crossed that 2014 truly turns out to be a year to remember, as for our industry in particular, it’s long overdue.

In this issue of SPN, we’ve the usual wide range of features which cover the whole of the wet leisure industry. They include swim spas, a product whose popularity seem to grow year on year and with new models having being released for 2014, they can only build further on their success to date. We’ve also above-ground and wooden pools, a product sector that may have been affected by the rise in popularity of swim spas but one which is fi ghting back with new solutions for budget conscious consumers that are looking to enjoy their gardens more this summer.

Talking of innovations, there’s also a look ahead to the many shows that are taking place both here in the UK and further afi eld. Some of them may seem like a long way off, but if the season is busy as we hope it will be, they’ll soon creep up on us all!

In addition to these features, we have our regular stories from the British Swimming Pool Federation (BSPF) which this issue includes some key information on European standards and legislation, plus there’s our usual roundup of all the latest news from across the UK wet leisure industry and around the world. So this edition is one truly not to be missed! One fi nal note. As mentioned in our April edition, if you have a swimming pool, hot tub or spa installation that you couldn’t enter in the SPATA or BISHTA Awards but feel is an award winner in its own right, please do get in touch. We are serious about showcasing the best from the UK and as the offi cial magazine for the industry and oldest title in the market, we’re keen to include relevant and quality projects in the pages of SPN or on our website.

Here’s to this busy period continuing and to having a great summer!
