IT’S GAME ON FOR GLASGOW 2014!

East Renfrewshire’s

Commonwealth Countdown is officially on and there will be an action-packed few months ahead.

The Queen’s Baton Relay arrives here on July 16 and will spend the day touring every town and village in East Ren.

In celebration there is a host of events lined up to mark the occasion.

A mini Commonwealth Games is also being held for our secondary schools on 11 June – will compete in a range of Commonwealth sports, and their winning teams will then take on teams from Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and Glasgow on 16 June.

The passport programme aims to encourage as many young people as possible to get active and try out a range of sports. It’s open to children from P1 to S2 and there will be certificates and medals – with gold, silver and bronze available to achieve depending on the number of sports completed. An awards ceremony will round off the scheme in September.

FULL DETAILS OF THE SCHEME AND HOW TO GET INVOLVED CAN BE FOUND ON P21 AND AT WWW.EASTRENFREWSHIRE.GOV.UK/LEGACY2014
