Advertising feature Oopsydebsy opens for business in Kingswear on May 8th

ebbie Crankshaw has been living for the past 8 years in Fuerteventura, where she worked in a few restaurants cooking dishes from breakfasts to good quality dinners. She built up up a wholesale homemade cake and dessert business before opening the first Oopsydebsy’s cafe in 2009.

Oopsy’s soon became known for the pasties, pies, scotch eggs, pork pies, special packed lunches for travellers and Debbie’s signature dish – Carrot Cake!

Circumstances brought Debbie back to Kingswear in July 2013 – she has considered the village her true home ever since her father bought a house there when she was 11. Ever since she arrived Debbie has kept her eye out for an opportunity to resurrect the Oopsydebsy’s name – and she has now taken that chance!

Debbie is getting ready to open Oopsydebsy’s Café and Restaurant on May 8th. The restaurant is housed at 13 Fore Street, Kingswear, which was formerly Zanne’s Bistro. Overlooking Darthaven and the river Dart, the restaurant is shaping up to be all Debbie had hoped.

“The café has been a long-time dream for me and when the lease came up for

sale I jumped at it - I still can’t believe this is happening!” she said. “I plan to make much of the produce we sell. We will use mostly locally sourced, seasonal food. Our new chef has trained at the internationally renowned and award-winning The Vineyard restaurant in Newbury. We will be focusing on providing a great evening menu which will change weekly.”

The café and restaurant will be a relaxed and family-

friendly place with a rustic menu to suit any pocket made with the best quality local food available. On offer will be a huge range of food that will change depending on the time of day and time of year!

The fully licensed premises will offer great breakfasts, fish and chips and of course Dartmouth Crab in all its variations. Whether you want a full fry up, burger, Croissant, cake and scones, or just a pot of coffee and a chat, Oopsydebsy’s will have something for you. “I want everyone to feel happy and relaxed in Oopsydebsy’s and to enjoy the experience,” she said.

The café will open Wednesday’s and Thursdays 7.30am till 6pm and Friday-Monday 7.30am to 9.30pm. To book: call Debbie on 07564 431777.
