AEROFLOT AWARDS BOEING 737NG CONTRACT TO VOLGA-DNEPR


TECHNICS IN MOSCOW


Volga-Dnepr Technics has won the contract to provide maintenance services in Moscow for Aeroflot-Russian Airlines’ Boeing 737NG (Next Generation) aircraft fleet.


The agreement for maintenance at the city’s Sheremetyevo Airport also includes a provision for Volga-Dnepr Technics to supply qualified personnel for maintenance supervision and other field services in support of Aeroflot’s flight operations. Volga-Dnepr Technics will also provide practical advice on refueling and aircraft towing procedures at its MRO facility in Moscow for Aeroflot personnel.


Vladimir Romadanov, Executive President of Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow, said: “This contract awarded by a global air

Igor Parakhin, Deputy General Director- Technical at Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, added: “Our main reasons for choosing Volga-Dnepr Technics as a maintenance provider were the company’s hands-on experience and track record of successfully completing projects. From our prior


experience with them we know that we can rely on their service quality, and we hope this new business relationship will be mutually beneficial and profitable.”


Volga-Dnepr Technics operates maintenance bases at nine international airports in Russia, Germany and the UAE (SVO, DME, VKO, KJA, ULY, SHJ, FJR, LEJ, and FRA). Line maintenance stations are present at each airport in the Moscow Air Transportation Cluster. At Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo Airports VDT provides maintenance for Boeing 747 and Airbus A320 family aircraft, as well as Boeing 737CL and NG airplanes. Earlier this year, within the annual international conference and exhibition “MRO in Russia and CIS” Volga-Dnepr Technics received an award for its progress in developing maintenance and repair operations.


RUSLAN RUSHES CARGO HANDLING EQUIPMENT TO CEBU TO SPEED UP PROCESSING OF INTERNATIONAL RELIEF CARGO


Ruslan International, which manages and markets the combined Antonov AN-124 fleets of its shareholders Antonov Airlines and Volga- Dnepr Airlines, has carried a vital shipment of airport cargo handling equipment from Amsterdam to Cebu, Philippines.


The equipment is assisting in the ongoing processing of international relief cargo, following the devastating Typhoon Haiyan.


The largest item of the 85 ton load was a dual-platform maindeck loader capable of handling aircraft pallets weighing up to 15 tons. Also contained in the shipment were slave pallets, dollies, baggage tugs, a forklift truck and pick-up trucks.


The equipment, located in Amsterdam, was purchased largely with funds raised by the UK Disasters Emergency Committee’s highly-successful appeal. The flight was


operated for Air Partner plc.


Some of the areas worst affected by Typhoon Haiyan lie between Cebu City on Mactan Island, and Tacloban City on Leyte Island. As Tacloban’s airport is too small to accommodate widebody aircraft, Cebu International Airport was chosen as the hub for arriving aid flights.


With a dramatic increase in inbound aircraft movements at Cebu, including many widebody freighters, and daily cargo levels of around 800 tons, the airport needed additional ground handling


equipment to speed up the flow of aid into the disaster area.


Ruslan International’s Commercial Executive, Paul Bingley, said: “Due to the size and characteristics of the main-deck loader, the AN-124 was the only aircraft capable of carrying it. By moving it from Amsterdam to Cebu, the processing of urgently-needed aid cargo has effectively been doubled.”
