Over 200 professional and amateur aviation photographers from around the world submitted images of Volga-Dnepr Group’s AN- 124-100 ‘Ruslan’, IL-76TD-90VD and Boeing 747 freighter fleet to win prizes in its Third International Photo Contest.

The website created to host the competition - http://photo.volga-dnepr. com - also attracted 10,000 visitors from 92 countries, who were invited to vote for the winners of special audience choice awards.

The winner of the Grand Prix award, who received a backpack camera bag, was Marina Lystseva from Russia. Her photograph of one of AirBridgeCargo Airlines’ Boeing 747 freighters entitled ‘In the Autumn Sky’ was judged to be the best entry by an expert jury of Volga-Dnepr Group staff.

Russian photographer Artem Orlov won the AN-124 aircraft category with his picture of the world’s biggest serial transport aircraft at the Komo aerodrome in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Volga-Dnepr recently completed one of its biggest-ever projects when it carried out 88 cargo flights carrying over 6,000

tons of equipment in the space of 103 days to supply a liquid nitrogen gas plant in PNG.

Yvo Cotala from the Czech Republic was awarded the top prize in the IL- 76TD-90VD category for a photograph of the aircraft taken at Ostrava Airport, while German photographer Cristoph Flink won first place in the Boeing 747 category with his picture of an AirBridgeCargo freighter landing at Frankfurt Airport in early morning.

Visitors to the contest website voted for special audience awards in all three categories and these were won by Pedro Santos of Portugal (AN-124-100), Peter Teplyakov of Russia (IL-76TD-90VD), and Michal Frubauer from the Czech Republic (Boeing 747).

Prizes have been awarded to all of the winners.

Volga-Dnepr Group organised its first photographic contest in 2010 as part of celebrations to mark its 20th anniversary and attracted 384 photo entries from 140 professional and amateur photographers from 26 countries.

The contest’s website received over 8,000 visitors from 115 countries. In 2012, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Antonov 124’s first flight, Volga-Dnepr launched its second competition and received entries from more than 200 photographers in 30 countries.
