Flotation Center Serene Dreams, of Kearny, located at 537 Kearny Avenue, the tri-state’s first full- service flotation center specializing in stress relief and relaxation therapy, will hold a grand opening on August 1. Flotation therapy in state-of-the-art isolation pods allows the body to relax and rejuvenate. Each specially designed float tank contains a precise solution of water, calibrated to the body’s tempera- ture (98 degrees Fahrenheit), and Epsom salts. This environment creates the buoy- ancy that allows the body to float.

“In this zero-gravity environment, you are totally free of distractions,” says CEO James Saad. “Your muscles can relax completely, your mind can become quiet and still and you can achieve a feeling of weightlessness and utter relax- ation that cannot be found elsewhere.” He compares the solution to that of the Dead Sea, one of the world’s first natural health resorts. The sensory depriva- tion—no sight, sound or touch—is key to the experience, he explains. Each ses- sion lasts 60 minutes.

There are many benefits to this treatment, both mental and physical, Saad adds, including relief from tension headaches, chronic pain, athletic injuries and stress.
