You may have seen that the Prime Minister, David Cameron, has issued a national
challenge on dementia. Anyone who has seen anyone suffer from this very cruel illness or has had to care, or is caring, for someone suffering from it knows how difficult it can be. I am delighted to report that the new Sevenoaks Community Plan (that is currently being drafted) will specifically mention dementia and the support available to carers.
As ever do contact me if I can be of any help to you. I look forward to seeing you again
soon. With best wishes, Michelle

Air guitars at the nativity!
Reception children at Otford enjoyed their first experience of a school nativity play! They performed dances for all the parents with infant children. They thought it was fantastic to be on stage, with some of them really putting effort into their air guitars!
Supporting children in hospital
Whilst we have been looking at different festivals around the world, we have been thinking about how lucky we are to have our families and friends around us on Christmas day. One of the children in our Reception class has been linked with Great Ormond Street hospital and the children talked about what they would miss if they were away from home. Some of the conversations involved children missing their cats, toys, mummy and daddy, and their own bed. For the children who had to stay in hospital over Christmas, Robin and Wren classes wanted to cheer them up so they decided to draw them some Christmas pictures, and decorate Christmas stockings with glitter. These hopefully put a smile on someone’s face. We had some Thinking Time in class to think about the poorly children and their families, and we wish everyone a healthy, hopeful year ahead.
