car was in storage for 19 years and restored in 2000. It has won first place in several international Avanti shows. He has had a love for Avantis for
many years. He puts on about 3,000 km annually. He loves to drive the car and attend local cruise nights. Larry Reynolds owns a beautiful
1964 Studebaker Gran Tourismo with only 52,000 miles on it. Only 1,005 of these cars were sold in North America in1964, so that makes them rare today. Larry has owned his Gran Tourismo for five and a half years, but now it’s on the market. (He has bought a 1966 Marlin.)

We sure don’t see too many Studebakers anymore. In the early 50s
the Studebaker was known for its unimpressive look with a bullet nose. A lot of us forget how Studebaker got aggressive in look and
performance. The mid 50s Studebaker produced the “Silver Hawk”, “Golden Hawk” and in the early 60s, two of my favourites: the “Gran Turismo Hawk” and the “Avanti”. The Studebaker Avanti was a personal luxury coupe built between
1962 and Dec. 1964. (Its name means “forward” in Italian.) The car shattered design and production norms. Avanti offered
buyers modern touches like a fibreglass body, disc brakes and supercharged engines beyond the base 289 cubic inch V-8. Buyers could upgrade to the supercharged Paxton R2 or R3 models. Avantis were capable of over 200 km per hour. As part of its plan to keep Studebaker in the auto business, the
company brought in designer Brooks Stevens to update the Hawk. He created the stunning Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. His 1962−1964 Gran Turismo Hawk emerged as a refreshing, timeless design that looks as good today as when it made its debut almost 50 years ago. Studebaker called it “a sports car that restores the fun and

excitement to luxury motoring”. Only later did others invade that market niche − the 1963 Riviera, 1966 Olds Tornado, the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado and others. Rolly R. Lamour bought his Avanti in Florida two years ago. The
