Friday March 23


The East Malling Conservation Group quiz evening at East Malling Village Institute Hall, Mill Street. Tables of six people or join in with others. Tickets £5, includes ploughman’s supper and nibbles. Friday April 6


Easter Bunny Hunt at Manor Park Country Park, West Malling. Come along and hunt for the elusive Easter Bunny. Follow the trail clues, solve the puzzle and be rewarded with a prize. Children must be accompa- nied by an adult. Wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. No booking required. £5 per child.


Saturday April 7 & Monday April 9


The Malling Society photographic and text exhibition at the Clout Institute, High Street, West Malling, will be open 10am to 4pm. The exhibition is about people who were living at the time of the 1841 census and is illustrated with later photographs of the buildings in which they lived. Included are some properties in King Street, Swan Street and St Leonard’s Street.


Sunday April 8 The Twitch Heritage Centre at Douces Manor, West Malling, opening dates for 2012: April 8, May 27, June 24, July 22, heritage weekend on September 8 and 9 and Remembrance Sunday November 11. The centre will be open from 11am to 4pm. The 2011 exhibition from the Clout Institute, “Local Inns and Beerhouses”, will be transferred to the Twitch to run alongside the permanent exhibition about West Malling Airfield. There is no charge for admission.


Kings Hill Rotary meets every Monday at 7pm at the Spitfire Pub.


Saturday April 14


East Malling Singers present Messiah Parts 2 and 3 at St James the Great Church. This is Handel’s most celebrated work and is the most frequently performed oratorio ever written. Tickets costing £10 (concessions £8, school children free) are available from Sue Greenham: 01622 750943.


Thursday April 26


Malling Art Club meets at Offham Village Hall, 8pm-10pm.


Friday April 27


Race night at the St James Centre, Chapman Way, East Malling, in aid of Jubilee festival. Only £5 per person entry and bets are £1. All of the money raised will be used to fund the Jubilee Fayre. Contact: Liz_Simpson_@hotmail.com or phone 01732 870356 for tickets, to sponsor a race or to buy a horse. This event is being organised with the support of Malling Rotary Club.


Saturday May 12 Leybourne School PTFA car boot fair. From 8.30am for sellers and 9.30am for buyers. Pitches £5 (pre-booked), or £7 on the day. The fair will take place on the school field, refreshments will be available. All proceeds will benefit Leybourne St Peter & Paul C.E. Primary School. For further details contact 01732 842008.


Sunday May 20


Malling Art Club. Life drawing painting workshop from 10am till 4pm at Offham Village Hall. The cost of the workshops will be about £25, not including materials.


Sunday June 3 East Malling Jubilee Fayre. Traditional village fayre based on and around the playing field. There will be everything from candy floss to steam engines, arena events, coconut shy, vintage vehicles and tug of war. EASTER SERVICES


Sunday April 1 Palm Sunday service, Kings Hill Community Hall, 10.30 am. A joint service between the Church of England and the Kings Hill Christian Fellowship. A chance to mark the start of Holy Week and a time for celebration.


April 6 Good Friday Walk of Witness The churches of this area come together at 11am for the Good Friday Walk of Witness. Pick up the procession at your local church or join us in West Malling High Street as the cross is processed to St Mary's.


April 8 Easter Sunday


Easter Sunday Communion services at St Michael's, Offham (9.15am), Kings Hill Community Hall (9.30 am) and St Mary's, West Malling (11.00am)

service time is changing From Easter Sunday onwards, the service at St Mary's is moving back 15 minutes and will begin at 11am. Services will continue to last around an hour as before.

Chip Productions Drama Group meets on Fridays at 7.30pm at West Malling Village Hall.


East Malling Singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 8pm-10pm, at St James the Great Church, East Malling.


The Heath Players meet on Fridays at the East Malling Institute Mill Street at 8pm.


Malling Stamp Club meets at the Clout Institute, West Malling High Street, at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month.


Malling Community Choir meets every


Tuesday at West Malling Baptist Church 7.15- 8.30pm. £2 per adult children free.


Shin-gi-tai Karate Club meets at West Malling Village Hall, Wednesdays, 8pm-10pm - Adult karate and self defence. Thursdays, 6.30pm - novice and junior.


East Malling Women’s Institute meets at the East Malling Institute behind the King and Queen pub on the third Monday of each month, 7.45pm to 9.45pm.


Malling Rotary meets on Tuesdays at 7pm at the Duke of Wellington pub.
