girls in the U.S. have been pregnant at least once before the age of 20. For former De- catur student Anna Scott, this statistic has become a reality. Scott had her daughter, Robin, on October 9th, 2010, at the age of 16. Since then, life has not been the same. “When I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t believe it, I was in shock,” Scott said. “Te first few nights were hard, but my mom was there to help me.” For many teen moms, the path to mother- hood is difficult and they often struggle by themselves. Luckily, Scott has had her family to support her throughout the whole process. “I don’t know what I would do without my mom or my family,” she said.

A crush of Scott’s was one of the first people she told. She quickly learned that everyone would not be so as understanding as her family. “After I told him I was pregnant, he said he didn’t want to talk to me anymore,” she said.
