Our goal is to help lawyers be successful and have rewarding careers, and also balance their non-working life. For the first lawyer mentioned above, we provided short term counseling to help him understand personality traits and to better communicate with his clients and set limits. We also taught him stress and time management. We explored how to make changes in his professional and personal life to have more balance. As a result, he was able to feel more in control and therefore could concentrate better. We helped the second lawyer understand personality

traits to set limits with her clients and work with them more effectively. We also focused on looking at her priorities and what changes she could make. We discussed joining an association to gain support. Te Lawyer Assistance Program helps lawyers be proactive

and manage their concerns. We are available to help with a broad range of services such as:

• Stress and burn-out • Career concerns • Balancing work and family • Anxiety • Depression • Marital and Family relationships

• Alcohol and drug addiction • Prescription drug concerns • Gambling • Internet addiction • Sexual addiction • Compulsive spending • Eating disorders
