Peekskill Open Studios Takes Place May 14-15

The 14th Annual Peekskill Open Studios 2011 will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15 from 12 to 5pm. The event features more than 100 artists and 14 special exhibitions in galleries and other venues throughout Peekskill. Maps for self-guided tours will be provided at centralized locations. All sites are free to the public. Open studios offers the opportunity to meet and talk to artists and see the creative process at work first hand, spanning a wide range of media, including traditional and contemporary paintings, sculp- tures, video art, photography, installation, ceram- ics, prints, drawings and silk paintings.
Hudson Valley Hospital Center is holding two special events in honor of Peekskill artists and the Peekskill Arts Council Open Studios festivi- ties. On Friday, May 13 at 3pm, a limited tour of the hospital’s private art collection will be conducted by curator Suzanne Bohrer Ashley. Reservations are required, so RSVP to suzanneashley13@gmail. com. From 4-6pm, reservations are not required for an Artist Opening Reception for Joseph Squillante, Hudson River photographer, which is open to the public. The exhibition, Hudson River Suites, is displayed in the new main hospital lobby and main galleries through September 5. For more info, visit
