White Plains Hospital recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of its redesigned Emergency Department with the unveiling of a series of murals in the Berk Family Pediatric Waiting Room. Painted by Kristin Linder of khlstudio in Briarcliff Manor, the murals were commissioned by the hospital to create an invit- ing, relaxing environment for young patients and their caregivers.
“The opportunity to work with White Plains Hospital on this mural that will reduce anxiety and comfort so many children has been a gift for me and my studio,” said Linder.
Horace Greeley House Presents “History Hunt”
The New Castle Historical Society’s Horace Greeley House in Chappaqua calls treasure hunt enthusiasts of all ages to participate in “A Horace Greeley History Hunt” in celebration of Horace’s 200th birthday. Players will be led though the life and times of Horace Greeley, starting at the Historical Society (Greeley’s very own summer home). Be prepared to walk in and around town, follow maps, solve puzzles and search for hidden items. Concordia College President Viji George has selected four exceptional South Indian painters and a professor of art history as the first beneficiaries of the OSilas Gallery’s inaugural International Artist Residency program. They will travel from Chennai, India to New York in late May for a two-to-three week cultural exchange program, made possible by generous support from friends of the OSilas Gallery. The program provides an opportunity for emerging artists from distant lands to gain exposure to the North American art scene and share their work with American art aficionados. Rivertowns Arts Council Holds 18th Anual Studio Tour
Celebrating its 18th year, the RiverArts map-guided studio tour will offer the public an opportunity to visit Rivertowns artists in the studios where they work on Saturday, April 30 from 11am – 6pm, and Sunday, May 1 from 12 – 5pm. It will be RiverArts’ most expansive studio tour to date, with over 70 artists participating, representing diverse styles and a wide range of media. Local Concert Benefits Japan
Save Japan at Purchase College, a nonprofit organi- zation established by the Japanese students at the school, is producing “Notes for Japan - Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Benefit Concert” on May 1 at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. Performers will include Toshiko Akiyoshi, a jazz pianist who is the only Japanese member of the International Jazz Hall of Fame; Ransom Wilson, a flautist and con- ductor of the New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera; Todd Coolman, the Grammy Award-winning jazz bassist; and faculty members and alumni of
