Copland House Celebrates Composer Eric Moe
100th Composer in Residence The arrival this year of composer Eric Moe of Pitts- burgh, Pennsylvania, marked an important milestone for Copland House, a non-profit organization devoted to nurturing and renewing America’s rich musical heri- tage. Moe was the 100th composer to stay at Copland House, the National Historic Landmark home of cel- ebrated composer Aaron Copland in Cortlandt Manor. The Composer in Residence Program began in 1998
just after Copland House began operations. In keeping with
Books Wanted, on view in "Winds and Words of War: Posters and Prints from the San Antonio Public Library." at Sarah Lawrence College
Aaron Copland’ s legacy, the goal of the program is to offer selected com- posers a 3-8 week sabbatical to focus uninterruptedly on their creative work. The highly competitive program has attracted more than one hundred appli- cations each year for composers in 30 states. Compositions created during Copland House residencies have won prominent awards from the Ameri- can Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Minnesota Orchestra, European American Music Alliance, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, ASCAP, BMI and others. Many of these compositions have been premiered and recorded by celebrated artists and performing organizations around the world. For more information, visit
