Program Coordinator The Humane Society of the United States, the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Programs Coordinator for the Equine Protection dept. Main responsibility of this pos will be to research, develop & implement promotional & educational programs & materials in support of the dept ‘s current initiatives. Other duties include, but are not limited to: develop booklets, brochures, articles, web stories to help educate current, newor future horse owners on topics such as basic horse care & responsible horse ownership; assist w/ the development of campaign strategies & materials; develop relationships & coalitions w/ local horse rescue groups & animal shelters that work on equine issues & grassroots equine advocates to promote HSUS programs & campaigns advancing equine protection; assist director in development & monitoring of outcomes & other indices of program accomplishments; respond to correspondence & requests for information from humane societies, equine rescue groups & the general public on equine related topics; prepare press releases, web alerts & respond to media inquiries. BS in related field & 1 to 3 yrs exp w/ horse care & ownership highly desired. Knowledge of the responsibilities related to horse care, ownership & familiarity w/ issues related to the U.S. horse industry & to specific horse populations strongly preferred. Active involvement in the horse world through riding activities, membership in horse-related organizations or horse-related activism is desirable. The salary range is from the low to high $30’s.
