THE CAMP continued from page 16

In terms of hunting tactics, Bounder

and I leave the entire decision-making process up to Brian, Wayne and a few others who are more experienced hunters than we are. Usually we are positioned at a

particular spot on “The Hydro-line”, “Blueberry Hill”, “The Loop”, “Happy Face”, “Wood Pile”, or other geographic feature that was uniquely named prior to our arrival, while Brian dogs his way through the bush in the expectation of flushing out a deer. Each year, it never ceases to amaze me how Brian Corbin never gets lost in the bush! (Thank goodness for my GPS.) Sometimes all these efforts bear

fruit, other times not − as many of us will attest from last year’s experience. Whatever the outcome, it’s all about the camaraderie, the experience of having a chickadee land on the brow of your cap, or feeling your heart pump in anticipation as you hear the sound of a deer run or walk through the bush. As October ends and November

approaches, you know the hunting season is in full swing when CHEZ 106 FM’s Doc & Woody Show has “Outdoors Guy” Jeff Morrison (columnist for Bounder Magazine and Ottawa Sun) on their show imitating the grunt of a moose or deer, or the call of some other form of wildlife. And, on any given weekend you can

expect to find both Brian and Wayne at the “Bogie-man Hunt Camp”, either working on a project or just relaxing and sipping back a couple of Wiser’s with the boys. See you soon, guys!
