LUCKY continued from page 13

The result was “Mojo Offa

Muddy”, recorded mostly live off-the-floor to capture the sound of the band in concert. DAWG-FM jumped on the record, especially the first single, The Cliche Blues. What grabs you on the first listen is the variety of material on the record. Dave: “I don’t want to be

labelled as just a Blues band. We have a country song on the record, and some ballads and Rock and Roll. I think that keeps people interested. Sometimes people don’t just want to hear the Blues.” “Mojo Offa Muddy” was the

key to securing a gig at Bluesfest this past summer, just another notch in the guitar for the band in an amazing, mind-blowing year. When you talk with the guys in the band there are very few “I’s”,

and lots of “we’s”. You can’t help but feel happy for “Three Times Lucky” and pull for the dream to continue. Larry: “Two years ago we had

this dream and vision that we’d record an album and play Bluesfest. If you put your minds and efforts towards something, good things happen. We’ve been playing for the fun of it, and our dreams are starting

to come true. There’s thousands of great bands, so to do what we’ve done already is just amazing. CBC has added us to their playlist across the country. One of the greatest things is hearing your song on the radio. We were driving to Bluesfest and DAWG Radio played The Cliche Blues. We just got shivers about it. We’re in this for the love of the music and nothing else. We’re just enjoying the ride all the way”. The ride will continue into the

next year with a new album, a probable gig at the London Blues Festival, along with headline shows at Tuscon’s, Greenfield’s and the other top clubs in the area. Three Times Lucky it is! From

friends jamming in the basement to the stage of Bluesfest to the radio airwaves. Obviously there is a lot more than just luck. A band can have all the opportunities in the world to make it, but if the music and attitude don’t cut it, it’s not going to happen. I have a feeling that even if

Three Times Lucky hits lean times, they’ll still be in that basement in Barrhaven, jamming away on the music they love. How Lucky can you get?
