Smoke Detector Give-A-Way & Community Sweep
Since 2005,MTLA, in conjunction with the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) and Safe Kids Coalition, has raised nearly $12,000 to purchase approximately 1,000 smoke detectors for needy families through a local school program. MTLA also participated in community sweeps in Baltimore City. During these sweeps, MTLA members and the BCFD helped install new smoke detectors and educate the community about the importance of not only using the smoke detectors, but also checking and replacing the batteries at least once a year.
