Chateau de La Ligne Chateau de La Ligne is situated on the outskirts of

Bordeaux on the pilgrimage route to St John de Compastello. It dates back to 1147 when Eleanor of Aquitane granted a charter for it to be built as a monastery literally on ‘the line’ of the pilgrims. Ulsterman, Terry Cross, purchased the property on St Patrick’s Day in 2000. Terry’s ambition since then has been the Renaissance

of a Noble Wine. He has employed the expertise of viticultural advisors to revive the vineyard of Château de La Ligne in order to produce a wine of optimum quality. Mr Gilles Pauquet, consultant winemaker to Château Cheval Blanc (le Grand Cru Classe in Saint-Emilion) is Chateau de La Ligne’s oenologist. The combination of the best French expertise with meticulous care and

attention has produced a unique and elegant Bordeaux Supérieur wine. Made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grape varieties the wine has been aged in French and American Oak barrels for eleven months to give a delicious medium-bodied, smooth tasting wine that exhibits great depth of colour and fruit concentration. And, on a special occasion, around a table dressed with candlelight and

crystal, when good food is accompanied with the wine of Chateau de La Ligne, treasure the moment and remember, “In water, one sees ones own face. But in wine, one beholds the heart of another.” Château de La Ligne is a subsidiary of Delta Print and Packaging. www.chateaudelaligne.com
