The “Darkroom” is divided in three subsections: “Display”, “Relight” and “Network”. Thanks to the first section, the user can choose different parameters in order to tonemap the rendered image (ISO, Shutter speed, f-Stop etc.) as well as to apply camera effects to the final image. By using the tools available in the “Relight” section, Thea gives the user the option to change the scene lighting conditions and to easily produce changing lighting scenario animations. In the “Network” tab the user can monitor the rendering network infrastructure if the network has been enabled before firing the render command. Currently the ability to use a rendering network is limited only to the unbiased cores but in the future it will be extended also the biased one.


The Material Lab


As the name suggests, the “Material Lab”, is the Thea module responsible for material creation and handling. It’s divided in two distinct section “Preview” and “Layers” where the first is responsible for hosting the currently edited material thumbnail. It offers various tools permitting to save, open, undo, reset as well as change the material preview scene in order to switch the preview rendering engine. The most important part of the “Material lab” is by far the “Layers” one, where the user can create the material “physical” structure. The tools available are a multitude, but the clear and
