The Running School has opened its first franchise in Ireland, at the Sports Injuries Sports Medicine Clinic in Castlebar, County Mayo. Founded by Mike Antoniades,
The Running School is a franchise-based concept designed to teach anyone - from children to elite athletes - to run faster and more efficient- ly in the space of six hours. The Sports Injuries Sports
Medicine Centre - which offers a physio clinic, rehab room and performance centre (gym) - has
an existing client base compris- ing both recreational and elite athletes. The Running School concept has been introduced not only to help improve performance and speed, but also to ensure that clients in the final stages of rehab are running efficiently before ramping up their training. It will operate as a full
franchise operation on-site, with members of staff being trained in all of the methodolo- gies and protocols. The Running School hopes to
roll out further franchises in Ireland and the UK.
New rugby academy for South Wales
The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has opened its newest academy at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, which aims to develop a
"sustainable player pathway" in the region. A total of 11 players, who
have been selected through their performances for Gogledd Cymru (North Wales) age grade sides, will now benefit from coaching, analysis and conditioning

support to further develop their skills. Coleg Llandrillo Cymru and Rydal Penrhos School have launched a new integrated timetable to enable the players to continue studying, while also partici- pating in 14-16 hours of rugby development a week. WRU's Joe Lydon, said:
"The establishment of the academy is key to the long-term production line of home grown players."
