SECTION 00030 ADVERTISEMENTS BIDS – The City of Detroit, Michigan will receive sealed Bids for the Work delivered to the Detroit Finance Department, Purchasing Division, Rm. #1008 Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Two Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48226, until 2:00 P.M., local time, on Thursday, July 1, 2010 when all Bids duly received will be opened publicly and read aloud. Prior to arriving at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, proposers should review the Security Memo con- tained in Section 00325 from the Purchasing Division.
Project Description – City of Detroit, DWSD Contract No. DWS-879 consists of repair of pavement, sidewalks, driveways and curb cuts in various streets at various locations throughout the City of Detorit. This includes trimming, removing and replacing approximately 300,000 square feet of concrete sidewalks, approxi- mately 155,000 square feet of concrete driveways, approximately 50,000 linear feet of concrete curb and approximately 200,000 square yards of pavement. The work also includes the placement of approximately 25,000 square yards of high early strength concrete, approximately 170,000 square yards of no slump concrete base, approximately 35,000 square yards of pavement reinforcement (mesh), approximately 15,000 tons of wearing course mixture, approximately 100 square feet of stamped concrete, approximately 200 square feet of brick paving, the repair of approximately 2,150 manhole structures, 2,000 gate boxes, removal of 50 tree stumps, 65,000 sq. ft. of 6” sidewalk ramp ADA, 1,000 linear feet of white and yellow pavement lane marking each, 1,600 traffic control on all major thoroughfares in city, state and county right-of-way, and 650 tree roots grinding or removal. A more detailed description of the work is stated in The Ex- hibit A of the Agreement.
All quantities are estimates based upon the work that is expected to develop throughout the life of this contract. The work will be assigned on an “as needed” basis as determined by the Engineer.
The sites are located in various streets at various locations throughout the City of Detroit.
Bidding Documents – Beginning Thursday, June 17, 2010, sets of Bidding Documents may be obtained from the DWSD Contracts Section, 1504 Water Board Building, 735 Randolph, Detroit, MI 48226 on Business Days between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Copies may be obtained upon the payment of $100.00 per set, in the form of a certified or cashier’s check made payable to the Detroit Board of Water Commissioners (which will not be refunded).
Bidding Documents will be shipped only if the requesting party assumes responsibility for all related charges.
Bid Security – Each Bid shall enclose Bid Security, as specified in the Instruc- tions to Bidders (and Section 00310, Bid Bond), in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bidder’s Bid.
Pre-Bid Conference – A pre-bid conference will not be held for this contract. www.dwsd.org. Potential Bidders are specifically directed to review requirements of this contract before submitting their bid. Note: Prevailing Wage Rates must be updated and paid each year by the Contractor and Subcontractors for the duration of the contract.

Award – Subject to any agreed extension of the period for holding Bids, Bids shall be open for acceptance by the DWSD for 180 days after the date of Bid opening.
