in-focus 3d:
Designing Beauty Architecture
in-focus 3d, in-cosmetics’ forward-thinking feature, will cast its analytical and creative light on the parallels between
the worlds of beauty and architecture. It will reveal new 3D techniques in development to predict product
effectiveness and explore skin as a genuine architectural concept.
The feature will host the inspirational projects of seven suppliers and will also include, for the first time, interactive
workshops presented by designers, architects and scientists from leading brands Chanel and L’Oréal.

Seven creative projects
• BASF Beauty Care Solutions
Sculpting one’s identity, an architectural approach to skin care
BASF Care Solutions will explore the supporting structure of the skin to
redesign products capable of re-architecturing the skin, the envelope of
our identity.
• Croda Group
3D formulation: the physics and chemistry of lipsticks
The Croda Group will investigate the relationship between the
components that affect the 3D structure of lip products and the
resulting performances.
• Lucas Meyer Cosmetics
3D formulation: bio-mimetic constructions
Lucas Meyer Cosmetics parallels the structure of materials found in
nature, architectural materials and the structure of natural emulsions with
outstanding properties.
• Solabia Group
3D formulation: polysaccharides, intelligent construction materials
With the “the CrazySpheres
®
”, Solabia explores the highly organized 3
dimensional structures of polysaccharides and their interactive properties.
• Soliance
Wellness Domotics
Domotics (Home automation) have inspired Soliance to investigate the
potential of interactive architecture geared towards beauty and wellness.
• Stéarinerie Dubois
Designing expert second-skins Designed by i-boo studio, all rights reserved
At the crossroads of physics and chemistry, Stéarinerie Dubois will
present a study on the structural behavior of “cosmetic second skins”
and their effect on the skin. Free in-focus Guide
