More options are cool for kids
FAMILIES ARE the key focus for summer 2011 in the Thomas Cook and Airtours preview programmes. The operators are substantially increasing the number of family-orientated brands and resorts for next year. Cook will be launching its Family World
programme at four beachside resorts in Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. Cook’s Richard Calvert said: “The idea of

Cook guarantees to ‘rewind’ prices
THOMAS COOK is offering more than one million holidays for summer 2011 at prices it claims are guaranteed to be the same or lower than this year. Cook and sister brand Airtours have both launched their preview editions for 2011 two months earlier than last year, to try to capture strong early bookings. The Big Price Rewind promise of lower prices in 2011 than 2010 is available only through Thomas Cook. Airtours is offering an early booking discount of up to £200 for holidays booked before August 31. Richard Calvert, joint managing director of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland Mainstream, said: “We’re really focusing on the early booking and family markets. We have secured some good deals from suppliers to encourage people to book early.” The programme is about the same size as summer 2010 but there will be more regional departures with extra services from airports
including Newcastle, East Midlands, Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester. Cook will also be introducing flights from Bournemouth to Dalaman and Antalya in Turkey, plus Corfu.
Another development will be new charter
services from Gatwick and Manchester to the Tunisian island of Djerba starting in spring 2011. Cook said it would be the only UK operator to offer flights to the destination and would offer 13 properties. “Djerba is an exciting destination which has a
European atmosphere with a north African twist,” Calvert said. “We expect it to be popular as the island has fantastic beaches, exquisite spas and great golf courses.” Airtours is adding extra three and four-star all-inclusive resorts for 2011 and Cook is adding 50 exclusive properties, mostly in the Mediter- ranean. Both brands are offering a wider range of 10 and 11-night holidays.
For early birds: More than 70% of Thomas Cook and Airtours’ Summer 2011 programmes are now available via viewdata and call centres. The full programme will go live on
thomascook.com from May 6, with the full brochure range available from May 27.

these resorts is to involve the parents and their children together, so there will be activities for the whole family.” The operator will be adding its Kids World clubs to more than 20 resorts, taking the total number to 55 for summer 2011. There will also be another six waterpark-themed Aquamania resorts with new properties in Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Florida. Airtours will introduce Sunsplash Resorts for
2011, which will be 13 hotels with water-based facilities. Three new Sunstar Resorts in Rhodes, Crete and Lanzarote are also being added to the programme, taking the total to nine properties in 2011. Sunstar offers activities such as soccer and stage schools. Other initiatives include free in-flight
children’s meals, free kids places and single parent offers. Airtours will also be
producing a separate family brochure in late May.
