Despite having a body length of just 24.4mm and weighing under 12g, Kistler Instruments’ new M6 miniature absolute pressure sensor features a PT1000 temperature probe and integrated signal conditioning. This is available in three pressure ranges: five, 10 and 20 bar with temperature compensation up to 150°C. According to the company, the Type 4080AT


sensor meets the needs of any application for reliable monitoring of pressure and temperature in


harsh operating conditions. It is, in fact, suitable for universal use in many applications – including fuel, oil and water pressure monitoring. The high-precision, piezoresistive pressure module with a media separated measuring


element allows the sensor to operate reliably with maximum measuring accuracy and signal quality. The integrated PT1000 probe allows dynamic temperature measurements in liquids at up to 200°C while the 4-wire concept with conditioned analogue 0-5 VDC outputs for both pressure and temperature provides interface flexibility, reducing cable harness weight and smaller pin count on the connectors. The new Type 4080AT sensor is FIA-homologated and can be supplied in variants with

A camera with hot-spot and cold-spot tracking has been introduced by Scott Safety. Using the X380N thermal imager with ISG Technology, firefighters can instantly see and create paths through cooler spots and avoid the highest risk areas such as floors or ceilings likely to collapse in the blaze, the company explains. The cold spot tracker enables first responders to locate and pin point thread or valve gas leaks as gas will be colder in temperature than the environment surrounding it. The camera is being launched


at Intersec 2016 in Dubai, as is the company’s newly extended range of portable gas detection solutions, including products from GMI and Oldham. The PS200 Series and the PS500 from GMI can be tailored to simultaneously detect four and five gases respectively, while the BM25 wireless transportable multi gas detector from Oldham offers the benefits of a fixed system area monitor in a rugged, user-friendly and transportable instrument.

RE-DESIGNED HYGROMETER OFFERS IMPROVED FUNCTIONALITY AND FASTER RESPONSE


A re-design of Michell Instruments’ S8000 Integrale Chilled Mirror Hygrometer has resulted in the MKII, which includes many of the features found in the company’s top of the range chilled mirror instrument, the S8000 RS. The hygrometer has an all-new sensor head


design, featuring improved integrity and sealing mechanisms which results in a faster response to -60˚Cdp, improved sensitivity and faster reaction to transient dew-point conditions. The pressure rating has also improved from 17 barg to 20 barg, and the unit still has the same accuracy of ±0.1˚Cdp. There is also a new chassis design which is


not only more durable and resistant to scratches but enables easier access for maintenance. Furthermore, the instrument has a new, intuitive, full colour touch-screen interface which means the instrument is both easy to use and interrogate. There are also more options for communication – in

addition to Modbus RTU over USB, it offers the option for Ethernet, RS232 and RS485. Applications for the S8000 Integrale include

HIGH SENSITIVITY CURRENT PROBES INTRODUCED


New from Yokogawa are the 701917 and 701918 high-sensitivity current probes, designed for use with the company’s DLM2000 and DLM4000 series of mixed- signal oscilloscopes and the DL850E and DL850EV series of ScopeCorders. The former covers a frequency range


from DC to 50MHz while the latter covers DC to 120MHz, offering sensitivities ten times higher than previous models (typically 1V/A) along with low noise levels of typically 60µA RMS. They are ideally suited to the measurement of low-level currents from about 1mA to 5A. The probes feature a slim, lightweight sensor head; and automatic zero

quality image capture. According to the company, the device’s Full Frame CCD architecture provides best in class image uniformity and dark current, and the use of 6.0 micrometer (µm) pixels with a transparent gate electrode provides high sensitivity, high dynamic range, and integrated overexposure protection. Together, these allow it to provide exceptional imagery and detail in an APS-H (34.6mm diagonal) optical format, the company explains.
