MKids Golf set for Global Launch

The Nordic Golf Show on 1 October 2014 saw the official global launch of MKids Golf-a comprehensive range of high specification, high quality golf clubs for aspiring youngsters

Nordic Golf’s premier trade event- The Nordic Golf Fair. MKids trades within the Masters Golf Group, the most purchased golf brand in Europe which supplies a number of prestigious brands to the golf trade in the UK and Europe. The range of products themselves are high specification golf clubs covering ages 5-14. A true first for the golf trade, with technology to rival that of a conventional club for an adult, the clubs are also scaled proportionately to the average rate of growth for a child, which is around four inches per eighteen months according to the World Health Organisation. MKids is the brainchild of golf pro Chris Smith, a

hugely influential figure in the YMG Golf programme - a junior golf programme encouraging youngsters to take up the game of golf. For Smith, the idea itself has been developed aſter experiencing a lack of quality golf equipment for children globally. “I’ve been involved with junior golf for 14 years

and experienced golf in a number of countries and my feeling is there isn’t anyone doing club manufacturing for juniors properly,” said Smith. “There is one manufacturer that even has a seven inch gap between ranges and

many youngsters are using clubs that are too heavy and the wrong size which is shaping their golf swing from an early age. We feel there is potential to dominate the junior golf club market globally. “Our clubs not only have the

latest high tech specifications from brands including Lamkin and Grafalloy, but the clubs progress in four inch increments from 45 inches which is the size children from 5-13 grow on average. Added to this is the fact that the clubs also grow in shaſt flex, progressive tip dimensions and head size, which are all proportionate. It means we have essentially created six new ranges in one. “Take the MKids Lite and the MKids Pro; the club

head sizes are 90% and 95% of an adult club respectively and the loſt is progressive depending on the spec of the club. An example is the MKids Lite driver which comes with an 18 degree loſt but the MKids Pro is reduced to 14 degrees as the junior becomes older and more accomplished. “We’ve been blown away by the response and this is truly an industry first. No longer will children’s clubs be an aſterthought.” For Smith, the new brand is part of a wider plan

to grow the game of golf at a junior level. This includes the promotion of the Young Masters Golf (YMG) programme and the desire to see ShortGolf seen as a recognised sport. “Junior golf is interesting. Around 200,000 kids

worldwide have been introduced to golf through our products and programming so far, and half of the Walker Cup team last year had come through our ranks. Recently a survey we produced said that out of all the kids we have had through our scheme, 22% of their parents have had no historic contact with the game. “The potential is there at youth grass roots and

MKids and junior golf really are the perfect fit.” MKids is available to order now, ready to be

delivered in January. The website www.mkidsgolf.com will be shortly launching live.
