ON THE COVER Libraries could play key role with

research data 16 Leader: Siân Harris A time of change

It is with some regret that I write that this will be my last issue as editor of Research Information. Over the past 11 years – and 69 issues – I have been privileged to talk to many inspiring people and follow many interesting developments in the industry – changes in libraries (page 18), changes in publishing (page 22) and changes in the nature of research output and the role of data (page 16). There have also been shifts in geography, an issue that was highlighted at the recent ALPSP 2014 conference (more on that next issue), of which I was proud to have been on the programme committee.

The global nature of research and the issue of redressing Western-centric perspectives have always been close to my heart. For this reason, I’m really excited to be going to work as communications coordinator at INASP, an international-development charity supporting scholarly communication in the developing world.

I hope to still see many of you at industry events. In the meantime I leave Research Information in the hands of my colleague Tim Gillett. Tim has been involved with the magazine for many years behind the scenes and is looking forward to working with our expert freelance writers to continue delivering impartial insight into the industry. It’s been a pleasure to work on this magazine and to connect with so many great readers. Thank you and goodbye. @SianHarris8 @researchinfo
