LACROSSE LIFE

Lacrosse has been my life since I’ve been in elementary school. I’m always up in the morning practicing, all day during practice, and then I’m there after practice shooting around with Nora Barry. I don’t think anyone can have as much passion and drive as I do, and I hope I bring that to my teammates. Even during the summer, I’m an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets (N.Y.) and help train players. I’m literally around lacrosse all the time.

GROW THE GAME

Lacrosse in Florida isn’t as big as it is up north. We’re the ones teaching the community about the sport. It’s really cool to help everyone else who isn’t as familiar with the game and then see them fall in love with it. We have both summer and winter

camps, and throughout the season, there are instructional clinics our program hosts to help Florida club and high school teams learn the game.

STICK TO TRADITION

I always wear my hair in a French braid and then a ponytail for every game. We also have a Gator in the locker room that we all touch for good luck before we go out on the fi eld. Then after every goal, we do the Gator chomp because we already have to drop our sticks.

MY BEACH BUDS

The beach is an hour and a half

away, so we go when we have the weekend off. Some of our teammates have beach houses in Jacksonville and Cocoa Beach, so we’ll take a road trip and go together. But whenever we have some down time, we’re out lying by the pool. There’s really nice weather here. Once in a while, you’ll get a bad rainstorm, but we’ll be back out at the pool in the next 10 minutes.

MY MISCHIEF

MANAGED We’ve been to Disney World a few times. I know my roommate is a big Harry Potter fan, so we’ve been to Universal Studios a couple times throughout the year. It’s my favorite attraction here in Florida. It’s a lot of fun. I’m a big Harry Potter fan as well.

>> MY ROLE MODEL

All throughout high school (at Northport in New York), my role model has been Jill Byers. Then she went to Notre Dame and had a really successful career. Now she coaches at Ohio State. Throughout my middle and high school career, I always looked up to her.
