Offices all over the world that want to turn their email into a profitable business tool, joined in the seventh International Clean Out Your Inbox Week, 20-24 January 2014. Three of the world’s email experts are on a mission to help businesses return their email as a valuable asset that will enhance their profitability and productivity. They say this requires individuals and organisations to share and collectively apply email best practices. Dr Monica Seeley (UK) and fellow international email experts Marsha Egan (America) and Steuart Snooks (Australia) challenged businesses and individuals to take control of their email at the start of the new business year by participating All three posted tips leading up to and during the week on Facebook, on Twitter at #cleaninbox and on their websites. They also provided a range of free tools. It’s estimated that every second, worldwide email users produce more messages than 30,000 copies of the complete works of Shakespeare.

More women in the boardroom for 2014


Business Secretary Vince Cable and Lord Davies have challenged FTSE 350 companies to increase the number of women in their boardrooms. The pair have written to the chairs of the FTSE 350 stating that with the deadline for Lord Davies’ 25% target for FTSE 100 companies nearing, they should use three initiatives this year to press ahead with continued change. Cable and Lord Davies have asked FTSE 350 chairs to: • aim to appoint one additional female director in the year ahead • consider giving two female candidates from senior management the opportunity to serve as a non- executive director at another company • state clear targets for the number of women at senior management and board level .
