Domaine Chandon

Domaine Chandon is known throughout the world for elevating the reputation of American sparkling wine by combining old world technical methods with the regional bounty of the Napa Valley. Moët and Chandon originated in Champagne, France when in 1690 the Champagne house purchased the Abbey of Hautvillers, home to Dom Pérignon. The Benedictine monk is credited with developing the traditional method for creating sparkling wine, and today Chandon continues the legacy. Domaine Chandon founded the first French-owned sparkling wine in the United States in 1973. After selecting prime locations throughout Napa Valley to establish their vineyards, the founders designed a winery, visitor center, and introduced fine dining to this remarkable setting. Today, they continue to seek ways to improve their environmental sustainability and maintain their reputation for utmost hospitality in the region. Domaine Chandon offers the traditional French varietals of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. The winery cultivates their sparkling wines from grapes grown in three locations, taking advantage of each climate to sustain their ideal varietals. The warmer climate of Yountville produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Carneros produces Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and Mount Veeder, in the Mayacamas Range, produces Chandon’s small Chardonnay grapes. Combining California’s finest wine-growing regions with the traditional methods of Europe, Chandon offers the best of both worlds, old and new, and although famous for its sparkling wine, many Chandon still wines have gained in popularity as well. Each bottle is a reminder of the great care, history, and tradition that goes into all Chandon does, making every celebration a little more special.
