Right-Angle Brushless DC Gearmotors New type 34B4/FV-5N gearmotors combine Bodine’s 34B brushless DC motor with a compact right-angle gearhead, a built-in PWM speed control, and an optical encoder. Together, they create a high-performance drive package that radically simplifies design, wiring, and assembly. The 24 VDC 34B/FV-5N gearmotors are ideal for a wide range of low-voltage applications in medical equipment, pack- aging machines, conveyor systems, printing equip- ment, and factory automa-

tion. The gearmotors are also suitable for portable or remote applications where connection to an AC line is not possible. The brushless DC motor is virtually maintenance-free, elimi- nates brush wear, brush maintenance and carbon dust. Bodine Electric Co. Ph: 773-478-3515

Three-in-One Light-Duty Welder New multiprocess welder runs off 115-V household power. The MIG, Stick and TIG performance of the Tweco Fabricator 141i is well suited for light-

duty welding projects in motorsports, auto repair, farm/ranch, metal art and maintenance applications. It offers 10–140 A for MIG and lift TIG welding and 90 A for stick welding. Victor Technologies Ph: 636-728-3000 Web site: www.victortechnologies.com

128 ManufacturingEngineeringMedia.com | January 2014 Inspection Software

In-Sight Explorer 4.9 software offers an expanded set of inspection tools and an enhanced Cognex Connect communi- cations suite featuring the iQ Sensor Solution network (iQSS). The surface-flaw tool simplifies the detection of surface de-

fects such as scratches, discoloration, burn/black spots, label wrinkles, small dents, tears or pinholes. The scene-correction filter balances images with uneven illumination to help present the defect detection tools with evenly lit images. Cognex Corp. Web site: www.cognex.com

Assembly Automation

Drawing on robotics and Continuous Motion technologies, CNC Assembly modules are designed to accommodate a set of common assembly tasks at high rates, but also have the quick-change versatility to run a range of different products. The new patent-pending technology allows for the flexible high-speed assembly of small parts. Transformix Engineering Ph: 800-639-5644 Web site: www.transformix.com

Rotary Head Cutting Tube Machines

Advantage series ro- tary head machines for cutting tube and pipe are available in two sizes: a two- slide cutoff with a 17-kW motor and a four-slide cutoff with a 24-kW motor. Both offer high cutting speeds and feed rates and can process tube diameters from 89 to 219 mm and wall thickness up to 20 mm. The cutting tool rotates around a stationary tube or pipe vs. lathe-style cutting machines that spin the pipe. This approach reduces eccentric load on the machine, allowing for faster cutting
