Dearborn, MI — SOUTH-TEC, SME’s pre mier manufacturing industry showcase in the Southeast for innova- tion, knowledge and relationships, returns Oct. 29-31 to the TD Convention Center in Greenville, SC, a hotbed for advanced manufacturing by companies like Michelin, BMW and Lockheed Martin. Hundreds of exhibitors and thou-

sands of attendees from business, edu- cation and government will gather at this major Southeastern center of manufacturing in search of knowledge about advanced techniques, productiv-

ity, new technologies and skilled work- force. “The Southeast is experiencing exceptional growth in areas critical to the economy, such as aerospace and automotive manufacturing,” said Cathy Kowalewicz, SOUTH-TEC event manager. “Five Southeastern states — Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina —rank among the top 16 states in new growth of manufacturing jobs. SOUTH-TEC is designed to give man- ufacturers the technology and knowl- edge to leverage that growth into new business for their companies.”

International Presence Grows at productronica

Munich, Germany — Scheduled for Munich from November 12-15, pro- ductronica’s international exhibitors have increased in numbers once again. For the first time ever, Estonia, Morocco, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic will have joint exhibition areas at the fair. So far, the number of interna-

tional exhibitors that have registered for productronica is 10 percent high- er than it was at this point in 2011. Including France, Great Britain, Japan, Austria and Hungary, there are nine countries with national pavilions at the fair, and that num- ber may increase. Christian Rocke, productroni-

ca’s Exhibits Director, commented on the strong demand from abroad: “The share of international companies and national pavilions underscores pro-

ductronica’s position as the most important industry gathering in the world. The combination of innova- tions and pioneering developments for the future is of key importance to domestic and international compa- nies alike.” In addition to interna- tional pavilions, there will also be joint exhibition stands from Germany, from Bayern Innovativ, IHK Dresden and IHK Potsdam. As in 2011, the German Ministry of Economics and Technology will also have a joint exhibit where new, inno- vative companies can present their products and technology to a broad- based audience of professionals in a

160 square meter (1722-ft.2 exhibit. Contact: Munich Trade Fairs,

Commerce Secretary and former BMW executive, appreciates SOUTH-TEC for its recognition of South Carolina’s advanced manufac- turing techniques and growing repu- tation for technology advances: “South Carolina is leading the Southeast in manufacturing growth. The state is a model for the world in automotive, aviation, transportation and advanced materials by advanc- ing quality, efficiency and workforce productivity. SME is showcasing cur- rent knowledge and the latest tech- nology, demonstrating one more rea- son why South Carolina is just right for manufacturing.” The more than 4,000 expected

attendees have an opportunity to hear manufacturing leaders assess trends affecting the industry. Attendees can also make side-by-side

comparisons of manufacturing tech- nologies from suppliers, distributors and equipment builders from across North America and around the world. Another program will devote special sessions to showcase student research, products and innovations. In addition to the more than

200 exhibitors who come to showcase their most innovative products to an audience with serious purchase intentions, SOUTH-TEC also offers attendees the opportunity to stay abreast of the latest manufacturing topics. Features such as interactive demonstrations; new product presen- tations; keynotes; panel discussions; and networking events are just some of the show’s highlights. Contact: SME, One SME Drive,
