Hypertherm’s ProNest Software Revives Old Laser Cutters

“We purchased the software for


our Trumpf Laser in the summer of 2012 and found it to work very well for us, which wasn’t easy considering that our laser is a 1993 model. We had great customer support to help configure and set it up to work with such an old control,” says Gary Reuter, an engineer at Service Line. “We have been using it in pro-


duction now for over a year and we find it is easy to learn and easy to use and yet still gives us all the features we need to run our laser in a very efficient manner. I would highly rec-


ommend this software to anyone looking to improve the performance of their laser or plasma cutting machines.” Reuter’s comments are echoed by other companies using ProNest software on their laser cut- ting machines. Richard Webb of Loftis Steel & Aluminum has used ProNest CAM software for nearly a decade. “We have had very good results for programming our two lasers. It’s easy to use and learn. To meet this chal- lenge, Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS) developed the SPM 5 smart power module series 3-phase MOSFET inverter solution, provid- ing designers with an AC induction motor (ACIM) and Brushless DC (BLDC) motor inverter solution for motors up to 200W including fan motors, dishwasher pumps, and var- ious small industrial motors. The new SPM 5 series is com-


prised of six fast-recovery MOSFETs, and three half-bridge HVICs for gate driving. The devices provide low elec- tromagnetic interference (EMI) char- acteristics with optimized switching speed. Precision driving of the low RDS(ON) MOSFETs minimizes EMI and maximizes switching efficiency. The integrated under-voltage lockout and thermal sensing unit provide local protection to the SPM device while allowing the attached con- troller IC to monitor the module’s thermal performance in real time. SuperFET® series, reportedly the in - dus try’s first 600V super junction MOSFET module solution for small home appliances and small industrial drives.
