GLP Spot Ones turn Seattle shopping mall into a permanent theatrical experience.


The annual ‘Snow Show’ in the Pacific Place shopping centre in Seattle was fast approaching when Gene Tasche, Operations manager of Pine Street Group LLC, the company responsible for the 15 year old retail centre, contacted GLP authorised dealer PNTA to enhance the overall shopping mall experience for visitors and they did. They created a unique atmosphere with low maintenance colour‐changing fixtures that can be activated for selective events. The lighting specialists recommended seven of GLP’s pioneering LED fixture, the impression Spot One, to be installed in each of the mall’s seven columns.


The Spot Ones have been set up in a way so they light up the main atrium with colour and gives them a multipurpose functionality and can be used for various events throughout the course of the year explained Sheldon Warshaw, PNTA’s Custom services manager. They are low maintenance and have a five‐year warranty on the light engine. Sheldon Warshaw explains “We wanted to have moving lights on each of the seven columns, firing from the bottom up. This way we could colour the columns and also shoot them out and down to cover the floor of the atrium.”


GLP Inc’s Ed Cheeseman had first introduced them to PNTA “We were, and still are, very impressed,” said Sheldon. “Aside from being easy to install, the quality of the colour and the brightness met all of our needs and the maintenance and low power usage were definitely big pluses.”


The impression Spot Ones are also very easy to program, he notes,“The fixtures’ response time is excellent which makes it very effective when changing colours and movement quickly.” Sheldon Warshaw said that the Mall management are “totally satisfied” with

The shoppers seem to be delighted too with the theatrical look given to the general concourse during all the special events and public holidays when the columns are brought to life. They’ve had several fashion shows and colour theming to support their local sports teams, The Seattle Mariners (Baseball) and the Seattle Seahawks (American Football).
