tient safety by advocating for physician- led health care teams. He said physicians, because of their extensive medical train- ing, are uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat patients. “Without a physician to guide the health care team, patient safety is at risk.” Finally, Dr. Brotherton says TMA needs a strong membership to advocate for patients and physicians effectively. He hopes to reenergize nonactive county societies and increase TMA membership to ensure statewide support for the as- sociation’s programs and initiatives.
