Where to Stay
Located in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, The Angel is relaxing and beautiful, with all the finishing touches you would expect to see in a luxurious hotel.
It was our 3rd wedding anniversary and my husband and I wanted to stay somewhere extra special. After staying at their sister hotel (The Salthouse Harbour in Ipswich) in October, I was sure The Angel hotel would be perfect! The Angel hotel and restaurant is a
Georgian ivy clad 4 star boutique hotel with a twist of urban chic. We arrived on Saturday evening and checked in to our wonderfully decorated bedroom- as it was our anniversary we stayed in one of their suites. We opted for the ‘Romantic’ suite as it suited the mood for the weekend!

Not only was the bed very comfortable and deluxe, but the bathroom was quite simply amazing- the highlight for me being the copper bath- I could have stayed in there all day!
On our first night we enjoyed dinner at the hotels restaurant- The ‘Eaterie’. It offers modern and predominantly British food, with a curious twist of something deliciously different, courtesy of their head chef. My husband and I enjoyed a full 3
course dinner, which I would thoroughly recommend for a special occasion- the staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic.
After dinner, we made our way to the brand new ‘Wingspan’ bar. Located in a 12th century vault under the hotel, Wingspan is the perfect place to go after a 3 course dinner, laid out with secret tunnels. Wingspan features an interesting mix of modern miss-matched furniture (which match perfectly!) and ancient architecture. Although it is waiter service, look out for the bar created from half an aircraft engine- it's a must see! To say we were both very impressed with The Angel would be an understatement. Not only would I recommend this hotel, I will definitely be staying here again.
