To support this, they wish to appoint a number of key positions within the business as they begin this new journey.


Technical Manager


The ideal candidate will be: • A self-motivated technical specialist with a strong desire to join an expanding, energetic organisation.


• Inquisitive and enthusiastic about all aspects of engineering and technology (electromechanical, manufacturing, testing and installation).


• Able to manage a small team of technical lighting specialists. • A strong communicator, able to make significant contributions to the design process and interact with senior management.


• Experienced in taking electronic products from the drawing board to post production and packaging.


Experience required: • You should be experienced in managing a team to deliver new products in a volume electrical manufacturing environment against challenging timescales.


• You will be from an electronics background and have experience in lighting component specifications and system controls.


• Ideally you will have a detailed knowledge of lighting industry standards and a practical understanding of lighting principles and application.


• You will have knowledge of lighting and building standards exemplified by experience or lighting design qualification.


Lighting Design Engineer


What is the challenge? • To drive and support the development of new products for Fern-Howard. Utilising 3D CAD software (SolidEdge) to create detailed component and assembly designs from concept to manufacture.


• To organise prototype manufacture of detailed designs, contributing to design reviews and helping to develop design concepts and ideas.


• Producing detailed system and assembly designs as well as detailed 3D designs of components from concept discussions.


• Provide on-going updates on the design process and completion dates to the technical manager and senior management team.


Experience required: • The successful candidate will have experience of using 3D design software (SolidEdge or similar), as well as knowledge of designing components for plastic injection moulding.


• They will possess a strong work ethic, demonstrated by a successful track record in a manufacturing environment or similar.


• A strong knowledge of optical and thermal principles as well as materials for design and manufacturing.


• Clear communication and reporting are essential requirements for this role. The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret design concepts and present potential issues concisely and accurately.

Business Development Manager – Lighting Control products £30,000 - £35,000 basic + bonus


Brand new opportunity for this expanding, well established electrical manufacturer concentrating on sales to electrical contractors and local authorities throughout the Midlands. You will be selling a quality range of lighting/ electrical products throughout the region and offering a fantastic technical and service back up support for the customer base.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced electrical/ lighting salesperson used to selling to this sector, ideally you should have an electrical contracting background, or a sound working knowledge of electrical principals, as well as a minimum of two years successful field sales experience.(C&G electrical installation; HNC preferred) Computer literacy is a must and an ability to communicate at all levels with customers and colleagues alike is essential. You should have proven sales experience, ideally with a manufacturer, selling to electrical contractors and local authorities offering a technical solution sale.


Product Design Engineer (lighting / electrical) £25,000 - £30,000 basic


Our client is a well-established, dynamic, forward looking company manufacturing and designing energy efficient lighting systems for a variety of market sectors - sold throughout the UK The ideal candidate will be technically able, self-motivated and enthusiastic with at least 5 years’ experience of design/development engineering in a related industry and willing to work as a member of a team to ensure the future success of the company. You will need to present a sound Electrical/Electronic background, preferably coupled with Mechanical and Optical design experience. An aptitude for analytical problem solving and ‘hands on’ experience in 3D CAD, ideally Solidworks is essential. Good communication skills, both internal and external to the organisation are essential. Location: Leics, Derbys, Notts area


Area Sales Manager – LED lighting manufacturer Basic from £35,000 - £40,000 +bonus + A business development role has emerged on the back of new LED products that have proved to be very successful with this well established, leading designer and manufacturer of commercial lighting. You will be selling a quality, innovative range of LED products including floodlighting, decorative wall lights, commercial LEDs and high performance downlights to end users, facility managers, hospitals, universities, shopping centres and also architects and consultants throughout the North West region This represents an ideal opportunity for someone with good overall lighting/ electrical and LED knowledge - confident of selling within a development capacity to the end user market. You should be an established lighting engineer calling on specifiers, end users, and contractors within Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford, Hull, Leeds region


Business Development Managers (A. North/North West B. South East)


Opportunities also exist for experienced sales engineers seeking to utilise their proven sales experience into architects, designers and lighting consultants with Bristol London and Manchester/Leeds sales regions


Area Sales Manager - Central South Region & South West £30,000 - £35,000 basic + commission/bonus (monthly) ote £40s + Company car, pension, health scheme, fuel card and company credit card


Our client, a well-established and reputable £multi-million Lighting manufacturer specialising in high quality luminaires and a new range of innovative LED products, has further expansion plan. You will be selling this range of readily available products to electrical wholesalers, contractors, consultants and specifiers throughout the sales region – building relationships, working closely with branch managers and contractors to achieve their objectives and offering a professional service throughout. Key to your success will be your enthusiasm, commercial awareness and ability to build up good rapport with stockists, wholesalers and contractors.


The ideal candidate will be experienced within the electrical industry, able to talk to branch managers and contractors on a business level, background maybe from electrical wholesaling eager to get into manufacturing.

Product Design Engineer £25,000 - £30,000


Expansion has created an exciting new role with this expanding Lighting manufacturer. Your responsibilities will include designing special solutions for ongoing projects combined with designing lighting products for the future. You will also be liasing with suppliers, building relationships with extrusion and ballast manufacturers, visiting factories, sourcing materials and liasing with the technical director in terms of new design ideas and presentations.


This represents a unique role to express your creative design skills within a dynamic and forward thinking Company. The ideal candidate could be a recent product design graduate, ideally with lighting exposure seeking a new opportunity or an experienced product designer searching for an autonomous role with realistic career development. Location: M4 corridor


Systems sales specialist - electrical/ lighting controls £35,000 - £40,000 basic + Company car +bonus + benefits


Expansion has created an excellent opportunity to join this well-established lighting Manufacturer. You will be working closely with the sales and support teams and liaising with architects, consultants and designers to sell control systems, emergency lighting and central battery systems. Total involvement including scheme design, interpreting the technical brief into system proposals onto full specification. The ideal candidate will be strong technically on control systems (lighting/BMS), confident at presenting solutions (ideally with battery systems familiarity); either an experienced salesperson technically qualified or a commercially aware technician/ commissioning engineer eager to develop into sales.
