Feature Standards

(European norm). In the case of the UK, British Standards (BS) may overwrite a particular aspect of the new standard.

The key differences between the standards are: • The removal of the partial type tested assembly and type tested assembly, which are replaced with design and routine verification

• There is a now a distinct differ- ence between the original equip- ment manufacturer and assembly manufacturer

• New tests are required to per- formed on the switchgear assembly

• Temperature rise within the PSC has to be measured and its effect on devices

• The rating of the devices in rela- tionship with the circuit design has to be defined

With regard to form rating it is the responsibility of the assembly manufac- turer to agree with the customer the construction of the PSC in relation to the construction. This is important if the customer requires the functional to be contained in its own compartment.

Differences between standards The existing IEC 60439-1 standard may be used until 01.11.2014, however the

new IEC 61439-1 has already officially replaced the IEC 60439-1.

A national appendix (NA) may distinguish from the original IEC EN

• Forms of separation are now defined.
