INSIGHT

The Commercial Exhibition Centre, Tainan, has capacity for 821 booths but, to guarantee the best business environment and services, the organisers have decided this three-day show will host 605 booths, with the exhibit area divided into zones for machinery and fastener products. Around the entrance, there will be a rest area, with free beverages, snacks and Internet access for VIPs. A gourmet area providing Chinese and Western food will be available to global buyers and exhibitors. Free lodging, pickup service, factory tours and city tour will be provided for a limited number of 900 oversea buyers. City and factory tours are scheduled on 9th

April and 13th April.

“This event means that fastener

manufacturers need

not travel abroad...” Jim C.N. Chen

On 10th April 2013 there will be a meeting with oversea

fastener associations – at which directors from EFDA, the NFDA and associations from China, Turkey and Brazil, as well as the TFTA and TFA of Taiwan, will speak. After the meeting, a dinner party will be held to welcome 1,000 overseas buyers and exhibitors. Eighteen international fastener symposiums will be held in

which fastener experts, purchasing directors and experts from academia and government will talk about global market and technology trends. Speakers have been confirmed from the NFDA and EFDA, the Würth Group, Fastenal and Bossard. Former EFDA secretary, Bernd Stapf, is also expected to speak along with Dr Volker Schatz and senior representatives from Atotech and Nylok. Taiwanese speakers will include Chi-Ming Chen (professor of department of mechanical engineering, National Chin-Yi University of Technology), Wen-Long Sung (manager of Advanced Business Incubation Centre, National University Of Kaohsiung) and Mr Yiao-Ching Huang (manager of research and development division of Chun Zu Machinery). Mr Fon says: “These symposiums provide a rare chance to listen to those experts and scholars, because they live in different parts of the world. Simultaneous translation will be provided to assist the audience.” This event will be the first international B2B fastener show

ever held in Tainan. Over the last ten years the Taiwan fastener industry has

accumulated a wealth of experience participating in trade shows around the world. During the same period Taiwan has become a very important country in terms of fastener production. This event means, said Mr Chen, that fastener manufacturers need not travel abroad and machinery exhibitors, in particular, are not faced with the difficulties and costs of transporting heavy,

sophisticated machinery to other countries. The venue is located at the centre of the Taiwan fastener

industry. Manufacturers and factories of machinery, screws, nuts, galvanisation and heat treatment are within 50 kilometres of the Commercial Exhibition Centre, Tainan. Visits to these factories will allow international buyers to see the actual manufacturing process and quality controls, increasing their confidence in the products. It will also present a challenge to manufacturers in Taiwan. Mr Jim C.N. Chen said: “The event is a platform allowing exhibitors to compete and learn from each other; when company B sees company A’s growth, this would prompt company B to grow, too. Therefore, in this way, a good cycle will be in place and every company will grow.” Mr Chen continued: “The trade show will be a one-stop shop

for buyers; they will be able to have factory tours and place orders through the event; therefore, maximal effects may be achieved in a short time.” Current sluggish global economic conditions mean marketing efforts must be redoubled, he added. “As oversea buyers come to Taiwan, one of the most important country in the world in terms of fastener manufacturing, they will be able to talk to fastener suppliers face-to-face and have factory tours to see research, development, manufacturing and quality control of fasteners. In this manner, mutual trust may be built and long-term cooperative relationship may be established.” Miss Tammy Huang said: “Hopefully, through this show, we will be able to let fastener buyers in the world know the outstanding quality and customisation service of Taiwan fastener industry.” Mr Fon also shared the optimism of his colleagues about the

event and all three interviewees believe that the show will bring in substantial business and will be a benchmark that is both educational and aesthetic. Sponsored by the Tainan City Government the event is

expected to attract 10,000 visitors from relevant Taiwanese industries in addition to exhibitors and overseas buyers – providing an important boost to the city’s tourism industry. “In the future, computer manufacturing will be in the northern region and fastener manufacturing will be carried out in the southern region of Taiwan”, says Mr Jim C.N. Chen quoting Tainan’s mayor. He added: “We are all ready and anticipate your arrival so that you will be given the warm welcome and hospitality of Tainan, an ancient city established more than 400 years ago.”
