Smartcool Systems Inc. has released its ECO3 Energy Evolution, which can be installed on any air-conditioning, refrig- eration or heat-pump system to help the compressor do the same job while using—on average—20 percent less energy. The product uses dynamic compressor optimi-
zation to help cooling systems achieve better energy efficiency. The ECO3 is available in single or dual channel and is compatible with one and two compressor (or stage) air conditioning, refrigeration and heat-pump systems. It can be installed by any electrician with basic Smartcool training.
Sto Corp. has added a new specialty finish, StoCreativ Lux, to its growing line. The wall finish combines the texture and depth of natural stone with the added luster of reflective materials at a fraction of the cost of real stone or metal. The lightweight, trowel-applied finish can be used in interior and exterior applications and can be applied onto intricate architectural shapes. StoCreativ Lux is available in six different looks.
Steelscape has made available its Rustic decorative coating tech- nology that transforms metallic- coated steel substrates into unique looks, like bark, weath- ered steel and wood. The durable finishes, which can be applied to panels that will be formed into
almost any shape, meet reflectance and emittance requirements for steep-slope cool roofing.
VISUALIZE SOLAR RACKING LAYOUT Ecolibrium Solar and ModSolar have created the ModSolar Platform, a visual racking layout tool that produces a racking materials list directly from the panel layout. Ecolib- rium and ModSolar will collaborate to automate the quoting and materials specification process for a solar project that seeks to use Ecolibrium’s Ecofoot 2 flat-roof mounting system. The materials list also includes costs and shipping information.
Seal Plate into its integrated Smart-R Wall Solution, adding multiple layers of defense against moisture intru- sion. The addition also allows for inspection of the air seal from the interior. The seal plate, which is pressure-equal- ized, includes a vertical gasket, pressure-equalized drain cavity, and non-curing butyl seal to protect against air and moisture intrusion.
FABRICS CONTROL SUNLIGHT AND HEAT GAIN Phifer Inc. has made available its SheerWeave 4000/4100 and 4400 interior sun-control fabrics, which feature DOW ECOLIBRIUM Bio-Based Plasticizers. The plasticizers may help durable-goods original equipment manu- facturers reduce their greenhouse-gas emissions by up to 40 percent. The GREENGUARD-certified shades are made from virtually 100 percent renewable feedstock and diffuse light, reduce glare and help control solar heat gain.
