right, because the gallery is right there. I tell them, “you know, I’m like a 12, right?” That’s my biggest scare, that I’m going to pull one. So I tell myself to miss it right. But I usually hit a pretty good tee shot on number one. It’s one of those things where you slow down and do what you got to do. •••

Can you talk about your partnership with the PGA Tour in recording “Anything’s Possible?” Golf is my thing, it’s the only real hobby I have so when the PGA Tour asked me to do a song, it was a no-brainer for me. I was really honored to do it. I knew that the motto with the PGA Tour charities for years has been “Together, Anything’s Possible” and they asked me if I could fit that in there somewhere. So I made

that the title. It was a really cool thing; I told them I’d write as many songs until they were happy. I’m not really a hands-on guy, I like everybody to do their job. When I first saw it (the finished piece) I was like “Wow.” The PGA Tour has been such a big part of my life for so many years. The players were really positive about it. I wanted to write a song about helping people, and I’m one of those cheesy, corny guys that believes that if we get together we can do anything.

What do you love most about playing at Pebble Beach? I love being here and hitting shots and remembering where Tiger or someone else hit shots from. Those moments are great. Playing 18 is just magic for me. I always say how much I love playing golf in South Carolina. We have holes on the ocean there, but we’ve got nothing like that. Playing 18 is always the coup de gras for me. •••

How did your friendship with Tiger come about? He was 18 and we were both just trying to break through. We met at a bar in East Lansing, Michigan. And the funny part of that is we were just sitting there drinking and in walks the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup was there, too. That was a crazy night. •••

Has he given you any tips? Yeah, usually when we play he’ll give me a tip on 17 that fixes everything I’ve been doing wrong all day after all the bets have been decided. One time he really helped with my putting when I wasn’t putting on plane correctly. •••

Besides Tiger, are you close to any other Tour players? John Daly is more like a brother than a friend. And I like to see the South Carolina guys, because Hootie & the Blowfish supports the junior golf program down there. We basically fund it every year and it’s great to see those guys do well. For many years there weren’t any tour pros from South Carolina; now there’s six or eight doing well and that’s great to see. •••

Who would comprise your dream foursome? Dr. King, Jesus, Tiger and me; that would be fun. •••

How did you grow up such an avid Miami Dolphins fan? I love ’em. When I was growing up in South Carolina they were really good. We didn’t have a team, so I picked them. •••

What’s your lowest score? I shot a 72 at Bull’s Bay (in Charleston). Still love it and remember every shot like it was yesterday. I birdied 18 to shoot 72 after double bogeying the 17th. It was a little par 3; I hit in the sand and couldn’t get out. When I birdied 18, it was one of
