Another beautiful custom home from Bagby Construction! Another commercial project about which

Ryan is particularly excited is the new Walker Home Center in Langley, known formerly as Langley Home Center.

“I have done the majority of my business

with the Walkers since I moved to Grand Lake, so I’ve seen first-hand the need for a locally- owned hardware store that has all the ameni- ties that larger home improvement stores offer,” he said. “I’m honored that they chose me to help them out with their new facility.” The permanent transition to Grand Lake for the Bagbys came in 2004. Ryan had just started his own company and was building a custom home in Cleora, along with a spec house.

“My in-laws had a cabin near the homes we were building so we found ourselves spending more and more time at the lake,” Ryan said. “We decided to move into our spec house until it sold to see if we enjoyed living at the lake as much as we enjoyed vacationing here. That was an easy sell. We haven’t looked back.

“As long as we are near the water and close to our family and friends, that is home.” Added Brecka: “Life is easier and the pace is slower

here. With your best friends next door, your family within walking distance and a wonderful school— there was no doubt we were home.” Ryan and Brecka have been married 16 years. They met in 1992 while attending the University of Oklahoma. They acknowledge that the ability to balance marriage and a professional relationship has played an important role in the success of their business. Ryan handles drafting and

construction management duties. Brecka does the design, landscap- ing and accounting. “We enjoy working together,”

said Ryan, adding that his experi- ence with Bartley Construction provided an example of how a married couple could maintain such a balance.

Bagby Construction can help you design a living space that fits your unique style.

“Bud and his wife Mary ran a family business that is similar to what Brecka and I do—theirs on a much larger scale now,” Ryan said. “We saw how it worked and how both of their skills were used in their business.” Said Brecka: “We are truly grateful for what we have

and that we get to spend our time doing it together.” Bagby Construction truly is a family business. Even Sophie and Mia get in on the act. The Bagbys’ 9-year-old twin daughters are more than willing to pitch in when called upon.

“They play a role as well—there is always a lot of clean-up in construction,” Ryan chuck- led.

Bagby homes are unique and per- fectly suited to lake living. Floor plans are distinctly functional. Finished homes feature a signature style that is easy- going and invites liveability. “We have always loved the coastal style, therefore most of our homes have a seaside feel—light, open, airy and comfortable” Brecka explained. “Each home we build is lot-specific in order to maximize the view of the water. And since we live on the lake, we understand how lake homes are used—and abused—and how they need to work for families.”

Quality assurance comes from

consistency when it comes to contract- ing jobs. Bagby Construction’s reputa- tion for putting quality people on job sites is unparalleled. “We are picky and so are they,”
