an Oak china cabinet. When Pat saw the piece, she couldn’t contain herself. She hadn’t seen the cabinet in years. Pat reached to the top of the cabinet just to be sure, and rubbed her hand over a blister in the wood. She instinctively knew the piece had belonged to her mother-in-law. In just over a decade it had made its way back from the Dallas area, back home again. To- day the piece is displayed in the shop and is not for sale.

“We always fi nd unique items, and those items be- come special to us. This family piece was a rare fi nd and it about blew us away. Naturally, that cabinet is a wonderful story to tell visitors,” Mark said.

The vision continues

Today the store looks nothing like what it did six years ago. The trio has completely enclosed and built buildings, refurbished what was there, and brought Mr. and Mrs. Pat’s vision to life. The store now has six showrooms and the expan- sion will not stop. Mark, Sherrie, and Pat have a new venture – they want to create an antique village. Their hope is to put Addington on the map as an antique super-stop. With the plans that they have, they are well on their way to making the dream a reality. “This town has a heartbeat and [Pat Webb] is it. Without this store, Addington probably wouldn’t ex- ist,” Mark said.

As the years and their friendship have progressed, Mark and Sherrie have become partial owners of Add- ington Station Antiques along with Pat. Even though the three of them are all skilled in business, antique spotting, and conversation, they have their own spe-

cial callings. Mark conquers old barns and cluttered houses to fi nd the perfect item for the store. Sherrie always has a smiling face and is a conversationalist. And Pat ties all the ends together – putting her heart and soul into everything she touches. As Pat, Mark and Sherrie continue to expand the Addington Station Antiques, they know the antiques of today are the antiques of the future. “The number of quality of items today is much less than when our parents and grandparents grew up,” Pat said.

According to Pat, people are looking for the qual- ity their grandma had – that they grew up with – for their own homes today. For this reason, the quality antiques that make up the niche of the Addington Station Antiques will continue to grow in value and increase in rarity.
