LUTHERAN SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY AT CHICAGO PRESIDENT—The Board of Direc- tors of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chi- cago (LSTC) seeks nominations and expres- sions of interest for the position of president.


LSTC, a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), forms visionary leaders to bear witness to the good news of Jesus Christ. Its urban setting and excellent faculty shape pastors, teachers and church leaders who are Christ-centered, responsive to context, atten- tive to diversity and committed to excellence.


LSTC’s next president will have many of the fol- lowing traits: VISION FOR theological education in the ELCA; the future role of LSTC; articulat- ing LSTC’s mission. A DEPTH OF faith and spiritual reflection; commitment to the Lutheran theological heritage; intellectual energy and curiosity; commitment to theological inquiry. LEADERSHIP IN guiding organizations through change to carry out their role and mission; admin- istrative and financial management; friend- and fund-raising; developing a governing board; sup- porting, challenging and developing an excellent faculty, staff and student body; fostering gender, racial and ethnic diversity; strengthening col- laboration with ELCA and ecumenical partners. INVOLVEMENT THROUGH membership in an ELCA congregation; the work of the church— locally, globally, and ecumenically; active partici- pation in community and civic life.
