HEDGESERV CREATING 300 NEW JOBS
Global hedge fund administrator HedgeServ is on track for continued growth in Ireland and will add 300 jobs over the next couple of years, ex- panding its currentworkforce in Ire- land of 230 people. The company, which is located on St
Stephen’s Green, has taken on 150 peo- ple in the last 12 months. JimKelly, chairman and co-founder of
HedgeServ in 2007, said the company’s growth in Dublin has exceeded all ex- pectations. “Our fast-paced develop- ment in Dublin reflects our commitment to answering the global demand for HedgeServ’s innovative, high-quality fund administration serv- ices,” he said. According to Barry O’Leary, CEO of
IDA Ireland, the international financial services sector in Ireland continues to go from strength to strength and HedgeServ is a premier example of that strength.

COVIDIEN TO INVEST €25M IN SIX R&D PROJECTS IN IRELAND

product provider Co- vidien has announced sixR&Dprojects, rep- resenting an invest- ment of more than €25m, to be carried out in partnership with its
Galway and Athlone fa- cilities. The projects will be jointly supported byCovidien, which currently employs more
than 41,000 people in over 65 countries, and IDA Ireland. The projects involve developing
respiratory care products for ven- tilation and airway management. Two will be managed at the com- pany’s plants in Athlone and Gal- way, while the other four projects will be conducted at independent facilities in Ireland on behalf of Covidien. “These advanced research and
development projects represent a significant future pipeline of inno- vative products forCovidien,” said Jose E Almeida, Covidien’s presi- dent and chief executive officer. “They also may produce impor- tant data to further patient health and safety.”
TWITTER TO LOCATE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE IN DUBLIN
Twitter is set to follow the lead of some of the biggest internet com- panies in the world – including Google and Facebook – by locating an international office in Dublin. “IDA is absolutely thrilled that
