MCCA 2012 FLIGHT TO QUALITY


ANYONE WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH FINAN- CIAL MARKETS WILL RECOGNIZE THE TERM, “FLIGHT TO QUALITY.” It describes the behavior of stockholders during challenging fi nancial times. T ey decide to invest their resources more judiciously and therefore select stock off erings which provide the greatest assurance of value and return on their investment. T is term also describes our primary goal for


MCCA in 2012: We will strengthen the considerable range of assets at our disposal to provide—in this era of more cautious deployment of resources—the great- est value to our stakeholders. T ese assets include our CLE and networking

events, which attendees at our recent Pathways confer- ence can attest, provide exposure to superb presenters and high-ranking in-house decision-makers (see addi- tional coverage beginning on page 36). Our oft-cited and in-depth research portfolio, as evidenced by the recently released studies on in-house counsel and “Gen Y” lawyers, is second to none and continues to grow in signifi cance. Attendees at the recent MCCA Diversity Honors Gala, held at a sold-out Lincoln Center in New York City, enjoyed unprecedented networking opportunities and saw Vernon Jordan receive MCCA’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. And, of course, Diversity & the Bar® is the most widely read publication of its kind. Our challenge is to strengthen our assets and link


them together for the benefi t of our corporate and law fi rm stakeholders. Our staff is working hard to develop new programming for both our in-house stakeholders and the members of our newly created Firm Affi liate Network (FAN) that will provide sustained and mea-
