What is your top priority as owner and co-chairman of the Pebble Beach

Company? The only thing I like to look for is people who have a passion for the area, so we continue to try and achieve excellence in everything we do. We have a responsibility because Pebble Beach is an icon in our country.


With not as many people spending money or playing golf these days, how do you keep the Pebble Beach Resorts courses and brand strong? As long as you try and deliver the experience, you protect the brand. Business is off somewhat, but we still are achieving good results. We are expensive, but it is the one public place on the list of


top courses in the country. Most ratings have Cypress Point, Augusta National, Pine Valley and Pebble Beach. I think those are the finest four courses in our country, but there’s only one course any person in any walk of life can save up money and come play. •••


The golf course changes prior to the 2010 U.S. Open were well received. Do you have any other plans for changes to the Resorts? I would be the last person to make any changes to the golf course since we have Arnold Palmer as a partner. The resorts can always be improved and we certainly can’t rest on
