Celebrating Cooperatives and Customer Service

By Jack L. Perkins, Chief Executive Officer 

t Tri-County Electric Cooperative, we care about our customers. Why? Because we’re a cooperative and not a corporation. That means our customers are members of the cooperative and they have an ownership

stake in our business. Membership in our

cooperative has many benefits, including electing a local representative to our Board of Trustees, attending annual meetings and having a vote on cooperative business as well as receiving capital credits when the financial position of the cooperative allows. Members also receive the free Co-op Connections discount card, which provides discounts on prescriptions as well as various businesses. October is a special month for us because it’s National Cooperative Month. Also,

LookingOutfor You

Customer Service Week is the first week of the month. In addition to celebrating with our employees, we will show our appreciation for our members in a variety of ways. At local civic and community meetings, Tri-County Electric will offer refreshments

and a brief presentation. We’re also introducing the Quarterly Question drawing. Any member who responds to the question will be entered in a quarterly drawing for a $50 bill credit. See the sidebar at right for this quarter’s question and entry details. We’re not limiting the focus on our members to October either. In the coming

months, you will continue to see the Quarterly Question drawing publicized. Our expert presenters are always available to help talk to local schools, chambers and civic groups on topics we specialize in. The Co-op Connections program continues to expand as area and national business discounts are added. I will continue to communicate with you about the ways we focus on our members.

Upcoming articles will talk about our brand promise and how our employees are committed to carrying that out. As your local electric cooperative, we’re looking out for you and I’ll be discussing ways we do that. Another way we look out for members is in helping you manage your energy use and find ways to save on your electric bill. One valuable tool in managing your energy use is the TogetherWeSave.com website. Just visit the site to see how ways you save can add up. We also have extensive resources on our own website, www.tri-countyelectric.coop. Resources include brochures and links to helpful sites. As always, we welcome any feedback from members on how we’re doing. We have an ongoing phone survey conducted by an independent third party. If you receive a call, we hope you will take a moment to tell us how we’re doing. And even if you aren’t randomly called for a survey, call us at 800-522-3315 to tell us how we’re doing or drop us a line at memberservice@tri-countyelectric.coop. We strive to listen to our members and improve our service whenever possible.
