uring a July 28 meeting by confer- ence call, the ELCA Church Council elected ELCA controller Linda O. Nor- man to a six-year term as the denomina- tion’s treasurer, effective Oct. 1. The council also elected Christina Jackson-Skelton, current treasurer and president of the ELCA Mission Invest- ment Fund, to a four-year term as exec- utive director of the ELCA Mission Advancement unit, effective Sept. 1. And on Aug. 4, trustees of MIF elected Eva Roby to a four-year term as its president, beginning Sept. 1. Norman, an ELCA pastor and CPA, came to the churchwide organization in 2006 as controller and then as chief financial officer for the ELCA Foun- dation. In February 2011, she began

serving as the ELCA controller. Norman earned a master of divin- ity degree in 2006 from the Lutheran School of Theol- ogy at Chicago and until 2009 served a part-
time call to Bethel Lutheran Church, Chicago.
“Linda Norman’s integrity and
transparency will maintain the high confidence this church has in the office of treasurer,” said ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson. Jackson-Skelton has served the
ELCA churchwide organization since 1989, spending nine of those years as ELCA treasurer and MIF president. This past February she was named interim director of the Mission Advancement unit. She will continue to serve on the Lutheran World Federa- tion Council and Executive Commit- tee and as chair of the LWF Finance and Administration Committee. As part of a design team that cre- ated the Mission Advancement unit,
Jackson-Skelton “understands how bringing together marketing and pub- lic relations, planned giving, fundrais- ing appeals, mission support and con- stituent services can increase aware- ness of and engagement in ELCA ministries,” Hanson said. Roby, MIF executive vice presi-
dent for administration since 2002, has a “unique combination of finan- cial industry knowledge, ELCA- related experience and a passion to lead the organization in its mission to serve [this] church,” said Harold Mueller, MIF board president. Hanson said of Roby: “In chal- lenging economic times she will pro- vide leadership marked by integrity, continuity and creativity.”
In the last nine years, MIF has grown from $380 million to $640 mil- lion in assets, “with $450 million in loans now at work supporting minis- tries throughout the ELCA,” Jackson- Skelton said. M
