move to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in 2008. The implementation of this new technology brought the need for someone with advanced, specialized skills to take advantage of it. That’s why the cooperative hired Jeremy Gibson in the new position of AMI Operator in December 2009. Jeremy grew up in Hooker and attended Oklahoma

Team Player: Jeremy Gibson, AMI Operator T

ri-County Electric began installing new “smart meters” as part of the cooperative’s

Panhandle State University in Goodwell. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information and Computer Information Systems. He then moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked for the information technology company Unisys Corporation for nearly five years. At Unisys, he was team lead managing their “Transportation Security Administration” and the “General Growth Properties” help desk call queues. “My family lives in the Hooker area so I was excited about

the prospect of returning home when I heard about the position opening at Tri-County Electric,” said Jeremy. “I get to work

with wonderful people and the cooperative offers great pay and benefits. I’m glad I made the move back.” Jeremy manages the cooperative’s meter reporting systems to

ensure they are functioning and reporting correctly. Much of his job involves pulling and reviewing reports showing the metering activity. He also remotely connects and disconnects meters as requested by the member or the cooperative. The ability to perform this function remotely instead of physically going to the meter provides faster service for our members and well as cost savings for the cooperative. Servicemen can now focus on maintaining the quality of the cooperative’s system instead of connecting or disconnecting meters. Jeremy lives with his two dogs, Otter and Echo. He likes to

work in his yard when the weather is nice. In his time off, Jeremy enjoys travelling to new places and visiting museums. He also likes to grab a cup of coffee with friends every once in a while. One of his favorite places to go is Hooker’s new ice cream and coffee shop downtown, which is especially convenient when it’s time for a break.

Linemen Teach Electrical Safety to Guymon Students

Tri-County Electric linemen Adam Garrison, left, and Josh Hussey, right, visited

Guymon’s Academy Elementary in

May to teach third and fourth grade students about the importance of electrical safety. They gave an

indoor presentation using a Safe City display. Then, they went outdoors and showed the children how they used their gear to climb poles. Other Tri-County Electric employees who attended the presentation were Rick Wayman, Erin Moore and

JuliAnn Graham.
